Henry U.S. Survival .22

Letters from U.S. Survival .22 owners

The two words that best describe this rifle are "absolutely" and "awesome". My wife got it for me as a birthday present, and it's going right in my pack for squirrel hunting. As a US Marine, my buddies and I have been able to shoot some interesting firearms, but we were all really surprised by this one. Very accurate, and once you find the right rounds, really reliable. With CCI Velocitor hollow points at 20 yards rapid fire, all but one shot hit within the 3/4" ring. Everyone at the range wants to see it-hold it-shoot it. I love it. I am definitely looking forward to my next Henry birthday.

Thanks,
H.M.

But that is not the only Henry we have we have the Survival rifel and the large lever loop carbine which is on back order it should be here shortly. My name is Marshall Cassidy I live is farmingotn falls Maine, I log on to your website all the time and read about your rifles and they are so amazing I cant believe that you make such a good product, some day i hope to have all of your rifels and all of your accessories which I have none yet. I recently purchased one of your survival rifles. Thank you so much for making such a useful product. I already put an entire brick through it and it fires great.

Gentlemen, I recently purchased a Henry U.S. Survival .22. I took the action apart to clean and lube it and I couldn't get it back together because I lost a part. I returned the action to your company and was very much impressed with the way you do business. I received an acknowledgement for the repair with an estimate as to when it would be ready. The action was returned to me earlier than the time estimated and it was working perfectly. The repairs were made under warranty without charge. When I'm ready to add another rifle to my collection I'm going to think of Henry first because I was so satisfied doing business with you this first time. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Imperato:

I recently purchased two Henry rifles -- a standard 22 magnum lever action and a survival rifle -- and I cannot express how happy I am with both of them. The lever action's craftsmanship and mechanical functioning are superb, and it has exceeded my expectations in accuracy right out of the box. (It shoots five-shot groups inside 3/4" at 25 yards with the standard sights -- and I'm near-sighted to boot; I'm sure the rifle is more accurate than I can manage.) Its simplicity and ease of maintenance are added bonuses in my opinion, and it balances better than any other rimfire I have ever fired. My only regret is that you don't produce a larger version of this rifle in a centerfire chambering (such as 357 magnum), but a man can dream for the day when this becomes a reality.

The survival rifle is a pleasant surprise, and I am pleased to inform you it performs far better than the critics and gun magazines report. I was drawn to your design of the famous AR-7 because of the improvements you've made, its finish, its balance and its practicality. I had only fair expectations for its accuracy -- given its intent, fairly short barrel and simple sights -- but I was astonished at what it is capable of at short distances. Its groupings exceeded my hopes, and its simple aperture sights have actually helped me improve my shooting with aperture sights on other rifles (I typically prefer open sights to apertures). I have grown to appreciate this rimfire autoloader over the others I own and look forward to years of shooting it.

I am also very pleased at your attention to detail and craftsmanship and your insistence on manufacturing in America with skilled American workers. I applaud your company and will continue to purchase Henry rifles. When my children are old enough to shoot with me, a Henry will be the first rifle I put into their hands.

Two weeks ago I went to my grandmas house with my camo on and my Henry. I always go and lay down in an old garden because there is a lot of high grass which offers good camoflauge. and plus there are two woodchuck hole right in front of it (maybe 20 yards) and one in the weeds to the side (about 30-35 yards).

Well I was laying down there and one woodchuk stuck its head a little bit out of the whole just so I could see it but it was not out enough for me to shoot it. So it comes out a little more and I was getting into shooting position And then my mom comes and checks on me and scares it away. So I continued to lays there then all of the sudden I looked over to my right and there was a different woodchuck standing right on its hind legs! It took me about 5-10 minutes to shift into shooting positon without scaring it. I pulled back the hammer and shot it right above the nose it didnt even move after that.

Then last week I went to my grandmas and as soon as my mom and I pulled into the drivewaywe saw one run into the weeds so imediatly I went and got my camo on went and laid in a different spot right next to a bush. I was there maybe 10 minutes and i comes out without looking so I slowly pulled the hammer back and it stuck its head up to eat a rasberry and I shot it right behind the eye from a distance of maybe 30 yards. Then this past weekend I spent two days at my grandmas. The first day it rained most of the time but after it stopped at maybe 8:00pm I went and looked out of my grandmas back window and I looked all around and didnt see anything. Then i looked down and right in front of the window. I hurried up and loaded my gun and went outside and shot it right in the eye about five yards away. The next day I went out early (at like 7:00 am) and looked around and didnt see anything then my grandma said that she saw one and she told me where it was. I went where I could see it and I gradually walked closer. When i was about 55-65 yards away it stuck its head up and looked right at me.I brought the gun up slowly and waited till it put its head down then I moved my feet into shooting position. It picked its head up I pulled the hammer back, it turned its head the other way and i shot it in the ear from 55-65 yards away! I think it was dead before its head hit the ground.

Later that day I went outside and saw a woodchuck in the same spot I shot the one that was going to eat a rasberry. As soon as I brought the gun up it ran into the weeds. I went behind the same bush and was there for like 3 minutes and it came out and walked around. I brought my gun up and pulled the hammer back and whistled so it stuck its head up and i shot it right in front of the ear. I have never been out hunting with my Henry and havent gotten anything!

I must mention that I also own one of your fine .22 cal. Survival rifles. It has come in handy more than once.

I managed to get to the range with the Henry US SUrvival AR-7 last weekend and had a ball. The trigger is (as I mentioned in a previous e-mail) the smoothest of all the guns that I have. I took the gun to the range to check out the sights. I usually have to make some adjustments to them whether it is a handgun or long gun. Out of the box, at 15 yards, the little gun placed 8 out of 8 shots in a nickel sized group. And by the way, the nickel was smack in the center black. At full distance of 25 yards (indoor range) I was able to place all the shots within a 1.5 inch circle, that was beginning to place high on the target. I expected that as it appears that the gun is sighted for 100 yards so will begin to go high at that range. Love the gun and will look at the rest of the line. I also have some friends I think will be very surprised when I let them shoot this great little gun themselves. Thanks again for a great product at a great price.

Mr. Imperato; Many thanks for your response to my email. I also want to thank you for your recommendations. Not only does Henry Repeating Arms put out rifles that are second to none in quality, fit and finish, your company takes care of it's customers after the sale. I own four of your rifles now and I just kind of expect that I will wind up with a couple more of them.

I bought a AR-7 a couple of years ago while living in North Idaho and working with Disaster Services. I kept it in my Survival duffel in the car but never had a chance to shoot it. I moved to South Carolina and joined a gun range and shot it last week. To my surprise and amazement of those around me, I was hitting dongs at 75 yards with just the peep site (no scope)

Thanks for a great gun!
